Norwich Knighthawks Modern Trends Novice LL Team Second half
The Norwich Knighthawks Modern Trends Novice Local League Team have started the New Year off with a bang. On Tuesday, January 2, 2018 Norwich faced the Six Nations Blackhawks at home. After a few weeks off the ice the Knighthawks started the game with some great defense against the Blackhawks. Van McAllister and Carter Feyen were quick to move the puck into the Blackhawks end getting the Norwich offense started in the first.

The offensive push was continued in the second period by Tanner Master, Logan Davis and Cayden Vandamme. Justyn Ladd, Zac Martin and Zac McFarland had shots on net but weren’t able to get one past the Blackhawks goalie. The Knighthawks kept fans on the edge of their seats with a breakaway by Ethan Wills and a quick pass off to Martin who shot on net.  The Blackhawks managed to get one by the Knighthawks and ended the second period up by one. The third period started off with some great puck handling by Wills. With just four minutes left in the third the Knighthawks were on a power play trying to tie it up. Ian Sprague and Ladd sent the puck to the net but the Blackhawks goalie wasn’t letting one by. The Knighthawks strong offensive push continued right to the end of the game with Martin taking a shot on net with seconds left and the puck landing in the net after the buzzer. The game ended with a 0-1 loss for the Knighthawks. Saturday, January 6, 2018 the Knighthawks traveled to Ohsweken to take on the Six Nations Blackhawks. The Knighthawks started the first period off strong with a goal by Master assisted by Vandamme. The offence kept working hard with another goal scored by Davis. The Blackhawks pushed back and managed to score a goal but great defense by Kirsten Samways and goal keeping by Josiah Koncir held them to one. Dylan Ratelle and Zach Martin assisted Ian Sprague who scored the third goal for the Knighthawks. Logan Davis scored the fourth goal of the game assisted by Kohen Mann and Tanner Master. The Knighthawks ended the first with a 4-1 lead. In the second period the Knighthawks kept working hard with Ratelle, Davis and Vandamme taking shots on net. Koncir supported by his defense, McFarland and Samways, wasn’t letting the Blackhawks attempts on net through. Brie Wood helped out the defense clearing the puck and taking away a chance from the Blackhawks. In the third Knighthawk fans saw great goal keeping, defense and offense by the entire team. The Knighthawks won the game 4-1, their first win of 2018! With the excitement of their first win of the year the Knighthawks were buzzing before practice Sunday, January 7. Things got even more exciting when Norwich Merchants goalie, Tyler Gubesch, joined the team for practice. It seems Knighthawks goalie, Josiah Koncir, is a Merchants fan and Tyler wanted to come out and see Koncir and his team in action. The team worked hard and had fun showing Tyler their moves. The Knighthawks have a week to rest before their next home game Sunday, January 14, 2018 against the Simcoe Warriors. GO Knighthawks GO
