First Win
It’s been a busy week for the Norwich Knighthawks Modern Trends Novice Local League Team. Sunday, October 22 the team played their first home game against the Six Nations Blackhawks.

The action packed first period had the home crowd cheering. Great defense and a hard offensive push had Tanner Master scoring two goals one assisted by Justin Ladd and the other by Bre Wood. Josiah Koncir was awesome in net ending the second period 2-0 for the Knighthawks. The team worked hard in the third holding the Blackhawks to one with Master scoring another for the Knighthawks to end the game 3-1. Koncir ended up at the bottom of the team pile as they celebrated their first win of the season!Thursday, October 26 the team traveled to Paris to take on the Wolfpack (2). The first period seemed a bit sticky until Zac MacFarland had a great breakaway. Unfortunately, he was stopped by the Wolfpack’s grooving goalie. With thirty seconds left in the first period they managed to slip one past Koncir to take the lead 0-1. The Knighthawks started the second period strong with great stops by Koncir and great defense by Kirsten Samways. With 5:30 left in the second period Logan Davis scored assisted by Master to tie it up 1-1. Paris quickly fired back to pull ahead 1-2. The second period ended with some great offense by Dylan Ratelle and hard played defense by Ladd. Master started the third off by winning the face off and breaking away to the net. His fight paid off when he scored to tie it up with Wood and Davis assisting. Despite some great puck clearing by Ian Sprague and saves by Koncir the Knighthawks left Paris with a 2-4 loss. With only Friday to recover the team travelled to Port Dover to face the Pirates Saturday, October 28. It was a tough game. The Pirates strong defense shut down Cayden Vadamme and Carter Feyen as they worked to try and make something happen.  Ethan Wills tried to put one on the board for the Knighthawks with a minute left in the third period but was overcome by the Pirates defense. The team was home Sunday, October 29 to face the Ingersoll Express (1). In the first period we saw some great offence but the Express weren’t giving it up easily. The second period ended with a quick breakaway by McFarland. A nice pass to Zac Martin in front of the net had the crowd excited but the Zacs attempt to score was killed by the buzzer. In the third the crowd saw an offensive push by Van McAllister and great defense by Claire McKie and Kohen Mann. Despite the Knighthawks best efforts Ingersoll did manage to shut them out 0-3. With a week to rest and load up on candy the Knighthawks will be ready to face the Paris Wolfpack (1) next Saturday, November 4 in Paris. Go Knighthawks, Go!
