That sure does have a nice ring to it. This is what the coaches and boys have been working hard for all year, and what a year they had. Now the Norwich Knighthawks are not only International Silverstick Champs but also OMHA DD Champs!
The boys went into the weekend feeling pretty confident being up 2 games over the Flesherton Goldenhawks. But the Goldenhawks weren’t going to give up and they showed why they had made it to the finals beating our boys 4-0. The next day the Oxford Pallet Bantams were in the final of southern counties and faced off against Simcoe. We quickly went up 4-0 and then the wheels fell off loosing 5-4. Two losses in a row, what had happened? Were the Knighthawks going to bounce back against Flesherton?
Back up to Flesherton on Tuesday we went and the bantams found their skates again. The Goldenhawks didn’t make it easy, but with goals by Travis, Carson, Chaz and a shut out by Ben, when the buzzer went it was a great 3-0 win. The red hats and medals came out and the smiles and cheering were contagious. It was great to see the support up in Flesherton, a special shout out to the Merchants executive and crowd who made the trip up to cheer on our boys. It was great to see everyone there!
What a year for these boys, they finished first in the “A” side of southern counties only to loose in the final game to Simcoe. International Silverstick Champions, OMHA Champions. What a team! They went on a 32 game winning streak the second part of the season! Their season ended 63 wins 7 losses and 1 tie, a great record for a great team! This will be a year these young men will remember forever!
