This past weekend saw
the Oxford Pallet Bantam Reps begin their final series in the OMHA championship
against the Flesherton Goldenhawks.
On a sunny St. Paddy’s day Saturday afternoon the Goldenhawks arrived at the Norwich arena to start the series. After the anthem was sung and the pleasantries dispensed with it was time for the puck to drop, and boy right off the bat you could tell the Knighthawks were ready to play, dominating the play, forechecking and backchecking. The play was in the Flesheton zone, and it soon paid off with the first goal coming from Gavin and then shortly afterwards a second by Chaz. After the first period Norwich was up 2-0. The second period saw much of the same with the Oxford Pallet Bantams add 3 more goals, a second for Chaz, one from Colin and one from Travis. After 2 periods the Knighthawks had a commanding 5-0 lead. The third period seemed quite slow, the boys seemed to coast and allowed the Goldenhawks to score. But after the final buzzer it was a good solid win for the Knighthawks 5-1.
Sunday saw the Oxford Pallet Bantams make the drive to Flesherton, and after Saturday’s game the boys seemed quite confident, maybe a little too much.. the Goldenhawks came out skating hard and the Oxford Pallet Bantams seemed a little bit on their heels, and needed Ben to come up with some nice saves. The first period saw us go on the power play and draw first blood with Gavin skating in and sniping one past their goalie, Norwich up 1-0. After the second period it was still only 1-0 Norwich. The third period saw the Knighthawks pick up their game and with a beauty slap shot from Colin the Bantam’s went up 2-0 followed by a breakaway from Blake with a nifty move made it 3-0. Ben came up big with some nice saves and the game finished 3-0 Knighthawks!
This week the Oxford Pallet Reps play in the semifinals of the southern counties “A” division against the Twin Center Stars on Tuesday at 8:15pm and then game 3 of the OMHA finals on Saturday at home in Norwich at 3pm. The boys have the chance to wrap it up on Saturday at home with a win, and it would really help if they had a big crowd behind them cheering them on. So come out and cheer them on.
